Under various guises, Kevin Core has been performing all over Scotland for nearly 12 years now. Generally known for playing nights consisting of upbeat Hip Hop, R&B and Chart Hits mixed with all manner of classics, guitar anthems, a sprinkling of dance and cheese, and anything else that gets the crowd rocking, he has also been known on occasion to play more specialist nights of funky and vocal house or R&B and HipHop. His energetic and fun style, and often over the top dancing, always draw the crowd in and ensure that the atmosphere is through the roof.
Residencies have included Fury Murys (including 7 years in Furys Paisley alone, along side 2 years in Glasgow and Ayr), The Shack (Glasgow), Strathclyde Uni Union (Glasgow), The Hall (Glasgow), The Loft (Coatbridge), Stones (Paisley, Glasgow & Falkirk), Brunswick Cellars (Paisley), Buddha (Paisley), Platform 1 (Paisley), Avalon (Paisley), O’Neils (Paisley and Glasgow), and with friend DJ Kris Cowan they also ran their own successful student night, Thundercat, in several venues in Glasgow. Over the years he has also played in pretty much every other good spot in Glasgow and Paisley for one offs or special occasions.
Recently, a move from records and CD’s to digital DJing with Traktor Scratch Pro has seen him be able to be even more creative in the DJ box, massively increasing the range of music he can carry with him and providing the basis for all manner of mixing techniques and tricks to be performed, including even Djing with a guitar hero controller!
Outside of DJing he is also an experienced musician, music producer and live sound engineer who has a degree in sound engineering and has worked with many bands (including Snow Patrol in their very early days!) over the years. He currently also works with the children’s music outreach charity the Loud ‘n’ Proud School of Rock, teaching sound engineering and organising shows in venues such as the Armadillo and the ABC.
